When might it be considered?
Deep decay, cracks or injury can affect the pulp inside a tooth. An examination and any necessary X-rays help the dentist understand the problem and discuss whether root canal treatment or another option is appropriate.
What does treatment involve?
The treatment generally involves removing affected tissue from inside the tooth, cleaning the root canal system and sealing it. The number of visits depends on the tooth and the complexity of the case. A crown or other restoration may be recommended afterwards.
